ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL)
is a public university established in 1972 pursuing teaching, research and community service activities. With around 9000 students enrolled in undergraduate (47%) and postgraduate (53%) programmes, 450 teachers and 220 non-teaching staff, the university is proud to be one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in the country producing, transmitting and transferring knowledge to society according with the highest international standards. The strategic objectives of ISCTE-IUL are: innovation, quality, internationalization and development of an entrepreneurial culture in the main scientific fields of Management Studies, Social Sciences and Technologies.

ISCTE-IUL has a considerable experience in international cooperation and is currently focused on developing a coherent international strategy to promote global profile and international competitiveness. The international strategy seeks to maintain the highest standards of teaching, learning and research. It is broad and includes such issues as ISCTE-IUL’s approach to promoting deeper engagement with key countries/regions, deepen European and international collaborations in research and education, greater European and international mobility experiences for all students and staff, integration of European and international academic staff and students, European and international student recruitment and funding, knowledge alliances with enterprises worldwide.

CIES-IUL, Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology is a research centre of ISCTE-IUL and it is one of the most dynamic institutions in Social Sciences in Portugal, whose main fields are sociological research and the study of public policy besides political science, communication sciences, education sciences, urban studies and social work.
ISCTE-IUL is a University Institute with a wide experience in international teaching at graduate and post-graduate levels, as well as on teaching methods, adequate to various students and nationalities. Both in teaching and research domains, ISCTE-IUL has been developing knowledge on Social Sciences, Humanities and Technologies namely in the Communication Sciences domain.

The NEWSREEL project will be carried out by the research team from CIES-IUL, that has strong experience in Communication Sciences.
