Annamária Torbó is an assistant professor at the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Pécs (UP). She received her PhD degree at the Language and Communication Doctoral Programme of the Doctoral School of Linguistics at the UP. She is interested in the international trends of journalism and developing the skills of media literacy. She is the editor of the Hungarian European Journalism Observatory. Besides being a researcher, she was the project assistant of NEWSREEL - New Skills for the Next Generation of Journalists. Currently, she is the professional leader of NEWSREEL2 - New Teaching Fields for the Next Generation of Journalists. Furthermore, Annamária is one of the editor of the book "New Skills for Journalists. Comparative Perspectives from Europe" (2022) which was published based on the results of the NEWSREEL research reports. Her other field of research is connected to the products of popular culture (particularly movies and TV series), and she focuses on the relationship of media texts and fan communities. She wrote and defended her PhD dissertation with the title of "Cultural and Participatory Politics in a Hungarian Harry Potter Fandom" in 2022.
